Mission Statement
Provide objective independent consultation, case evaluations, examinations and re-examinations of physical evidence in criminal and civil cases.
Evan T. Garrison
Employed
by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory Division
from February 1988 – September 2020. Trained in the
forensic disciplines of firearm, toolmark and impression
identification. Performed analysis and comparisons on
evidence submitted in criminal cases from over 600 law
enforcement agencies. Served as Supervisor and Technical
Leader for the Firearm and Toolmark Section.
Qualified as an expert and has gave testimony over 300 times
in the majority of counties located in the state of Missouri;
deposed on over 50 occasions. Presented forensic
testimony in criminal trials at the federal level in Kansas
City, St. Louis, Jefferson City, Springfield, and Cape
Girardeau, Missouri. Accepted as an expert and
presented testimony in Missouri Supreme Court litigation and
U.S. Military Court Martial proceedings.
He achieved Distinguished Member status in the Association of
Firearm and Toolmark Examiners (AFTE) and is a Missouri
Department of Public Safety Specialist Instructor in the
collection and preservation of physical evidence. Over
his career with the MSHP Crime Lab, he instructed and lectured
at the Missouri Judicial College, the MSHP Law Enforcement
Academy, Missouri Major Case Squad programs and other law
enforcement P.O.S.T. certified training events.
Evan Garrison retired from the MSHP after 32 years 8 months of
service going onto establish
